Beach Yoga Checklist
If you are going to be practicing yoga on a sandy beach somewhere, there are a few must-bring items you will need.
Water & Electrolytes
Make sure to bring plenty of water because if it is a sunny day and you are practicing yoga under the sun, you will get dehydrated a lot quicker. Try to bring a 1L bottle of water and to replenish any electrolytes, bring a vitamin pack to add to your water and drink after the yoga class.
01
Sunblock/Sunscreen
Make sure to apply sunblock or sunscreen to the face and other exposed areas (especially if sunny and UV index is high), but do NOT rub on palms and soles of feet or else you will be slipping and sliding on your mat during downward dog!
02
Towel + Mat
Bring a large towel the size of your mat and place the towel on top of your mat. This will help keep the sand from sticking on your mat and will be easier to grip on a towel surface, especially if your palms and soles of your feet start tend to perspire.
03
Sun Hat or Sunglasses
If it's really sunny, a sun hat or sunglasses can provide shade to see more clearly through the sun's rays.
04
Water Bottle
Staying hydrated is essential. You will find that you need to drink a lot more water, especially when exercising...and through a series of vinyasas. Keeping the water flowing through your system will also help you flush the toxins you release during your yoga practices.
