Delicious tender grilled octopus, OPA!

By Penelope, SunKissed Yoga

This delicious tender, seafood delicacy is one of my favourites. My mom has mastered the technique of preparing the most delicious octopus this side of the Mediterranean! One bite will make you want more. Succulent octopus marinated in extra virgin olive oil, freshly squeezed lemon, freshly ground pepper, oregano, salt to taste and OPA!

Grilled Octopus

5 servings

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium to large Octopus

  • 2 Bay leaves

  • Peppercorns

  • 1/3 cup Red Wine

  • 1/3 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil1 1/2 Lemons, freshly squeezed

  • 2 Tbsp Oregano

  • Freshly Cracked Black Pepper

  • Salt to taste

  • lemon wedge (optional for serving)

  • cork (optional during boiling)

(salt, pepper, oregano to taste)

Boil octopus in large pot for 30 minutes or until tender with bay leaves, peppercorns, red wine, a pinch of salt, and add cork during boiling (optional). Remove and drain. Rinse in cold water and then cut into separate tentacles. Marinate tentacles in olive oil for 30 minutes. Then grill for 5 minutes. Beat olive oil and lemon juice together until well blended, and add spices. Then pour over grilled octopus in serving tray. Enjoy!
